he Kenosha Writers’ Group has been meeting for two years in gallery lofts, members’ homes, and coffee shops throughout Kenosha. We gather on the third Thursday of each month to offer support through the writing process and to share in the joy of completed projects.
Membership is open to anyone who writes, whether professionally or for pleasure, any genre or format, and is looking for open, honest feedback about their writing.
Please contact Tammy Peacy for more information.

I heard of your site and group on the Lenny Palmer program this morning.
I am not a professional writer, although writing is something which I enjoy immensely. Actually, I used to write professionally for IBM, not really as a “technical” writier per se, but I did write administrative procedural manuals and on-line courses for employees. My greatest accomplishment was writing the Benefits Administration Guide that was to be distributed to every office in the country! I no longer work for IBM, though I probably would still be there had I stuck with writing (which I love) rather than allowing them to push me into management (which I hated, and which led to my eventual resignation). But life has been good since. I now own and operate the Raymond Heights Family Golf Center near Seven Mile Road and I-94.
I have had countless “letters to editors” published over the years in both national and local publications. I have been a guest writer in the Kenosha News on several occasions, and I used to write a weekly golf column in several smaller, local specialty publications. The Kenosha News has refused my offer to write a weekly golf column in exchange for free ads. They keep telling me they are going to shore up their local golf writing, but they don’t. They still use AP stories and that is about the extent of their golf writing.
My writing is now limited to writing whatever people ask me to do as a favor for them, or writing for my business. I do a lot of “ghost writing” for St. Joseph high school in their fundraising and development efforts. I guess, deep inside, I feel like I am meant to write, but have not yet taken the steps to seek formal education to make that happen. (Unless you count 17 years in Catholic schools including college..they are sticklers for proper English and writing skills. I guess that is where I developed an affinity for a properly written paragraph). I am a chronic proof-reader…the “Monk” of proof-readers…and I have been known to write to radio and TV stations and personalities to point out their errors. It drives me nuts when professional “journalists” allow writing, grammatical, and spelling errors to make it into their published or on-air work. Do these people not have editors? If so what are the editors doing? Last month WTMJ TV actually put up a graphic stating that Brett Favre had just become the “Most Winningest Quarterback” in NFL history!
AAAAARGHH! How many people did that have to make it past?
I really do not know how to do a formal manuscript or who to send it to if I did! I am not sure what I’d even write about. I just know I am happiest when I am sitting behind a keyboard massaging words and thoughts into coherent sentences!
Actually, I am not sure why I am writing this right now, other than I feel a kinship with people who like to write, and maybe I am hoping that one of you will read this and tell me how to get on a track toward turning my love of writing and my limited ability into more than just a hobby or something that I do as a favor for others. Thanks for “listening”!

Tim,
Plunge into the abyss, eyes wide open, and write what your Muse begs you put into words. Then, bring it to the next writer’s group meeting @ Mo’s. Looking forward to hearing what your Muse demands be printed upon the page…

Thank you all for the kind reception and invitation to join you. I will try to do so at some point. Family activities and other obligations often monopolize those evening hours, but I will do my best to try. I actually have more free time during the day. S’zanne, I enjoyed the story you wrote recently about the model. Well done!

I am sending a press release at the request of a couple of your members.
The winter class schedule mentioned will be posted within the next day or two. Thank you!
WRITERS NO LONGER HAVE TO GO SOLO
Racine, WI, December 5, 2007
Area writers now have a venue in which to hone their writing skills. The Eloquent Author, LLC, School of Writing opened this fall, presenting both half-day and full-day workshops covering various genres. The upcoming winter semester, which begins January 7, 2008, will offer workshops along with multi-week classes in various facilities around Racine, Kenosha, and the Waterford areas. All locations afford students comfortable and quiet learning settings, from some of the areas finest teachers.
The Eloquent Author, LLC is proud of its faculty and the decades of writing and teaching experience we have to offer. Our entire staff has been published in various mediums, including several books through well-regarded publishing houses. Our mission is, “To inspire, inform, and guide individuals on their writing journey.”
The school intends to continually expand to meet the needs of Southeastern Wisconsin authors by holding classes during the day, evening, and weekend hours. We are open to hearing your interests and comments. In the near future, we plan to add a writer’s blog to our website for additional commentary and thoughts on a writer’s life. In addition, a “story quilt” is beginning to form, and we will soon be inviting all to join in to help weave our story.
Visit our website to view all the details on the school; the upcoming winter semester workshops and classes; faculty information, as well as news, and the latest additions.
